Our Approach
How We Help: A Comprehensive
Approach to TMD Care
Every treatment plan at Pacific TMD is built around you — your symptoms, your goals, your life. Here are the evidence-based tools we draw on.
Hands-on techniques to relieve jaw pain, correct alignment, and restore joint mobility. Manual therapy forms the foundation of TMD physiotherapy and targets both the joint and the surrounding soft tissue structures.
Fine needles are inserted into trigger points or tight muscle bands to release tension, alleviate myofascial pain, and address the specific muscle contributors to your TMD symptoms. A highly effective adjunctive technique.
Controlled electrical impulses target specific muscles to manage pain, reduce spasms, and activate underperforming muscles. Particularly beneficial for patients with persistent discomfort or muscle dysfunction.
Promotes tissue repair and reduces inflammation, complementing other pain management strategies. A gentle, non-invasive modality used to support the healing process and reduce localized discomfort.
Personalized programs designed to strengthen jaw muscles, improve joint function, and restore mobility. Regular participation leads to meaningful improvements in TMD symptoms and long-term jaw health.
Understanding your condition is part of healing it. We guide you through proper jaw posture, ergonomic modifications, stress management, and dietary habits — giving you the tools to maintain progress between sessions.

Common Questions
What patients ask us most often
From first-time visitors searching "jaw pain physiotherapy Vancouver" to patients referred by their dentist or specialist — here are the answers you need.
Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) is an umbrella term for conditions affecting the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. Common signs include jaw pain or stiffness, clicking or locking, headaches, ear pain, and difficulty chewing. A formal assessment is the only way to confirm diagnosis.
Yes — and it is often the most effective first-line approach. Physiotherapy addresses the muscular, joint, and postural contributors to TMD, many of which go untreated with dental appliances or medication alone. The evidence strongly supports manual therapy and exercise for TMD.
Pacific TMD Care Clinic is located at 1589 West 6th Avenue, Unit 101, Vancouver, BC. We serve patients from across Metro Vancouver including Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver, and the surrounding area.
This varies based on symptom duration, severity, and individual response to treatment. Many patients notice meaningful improvements within 4–6 sessions. Moreza will provide a clear treatment outline after your initial assessment so you know what to expect.
No referral is required for physiotherapy in BC. You can book directly. That said, we do work closely with dentists, oral surgeons, and orofacial pain specialists, and welcome collaborative care when appropriate.
Moreza holds one of fewer than 10 advanced TMD physiotherapy certifications (CCTT) in Canada, teaches at Rutgers University and has lectured at Harvard, and sits on the AAOP Research Committee. This is not a general practice with a TMD interest — it is a dedicated specialty clinic.
Dry needling involves very fine needles and is generally well tolerated. Most patients describe mild pressure or a brief muscle twitch. It is performed only when clinically indicated and explained fully before treatment begins.
Absolutely. The jaw joint, neck, and head share muscle and nerve pathways. TMD is a common and frequently overlooked contributor to chronic headaches, facial pain, ear symptoms, and upper neck stiffness. Addressing the jaw often resolves symptoms that appeared unrelated.
